GIROUARD, GIROIR, GERRIOR…. 2019 INTERNATIONAL REUNION, AUG 16, 17,
AS PART OF THE CMA 2019
My name is Donald Girouard, President of L’Association de la Famille Girouard, Giroir, Gerrior…Inc which is based in the Maritime Provinces of Canada. The Association is a non profit organization promoting the culture, heritage and genealogy of the Girouard, Giroir, and Gerrior… families internationally.
The Congrès Mondial Acadien (CMA 2019), World Congress of Acadians, opens on Saturday, Aug. 10, 2019 and continues in both PEI and southeastern New Brunswick, until the closing Aug 24. Aug 15 is one of the Congrès’ activities, celebrating National Acadian Day in Dieppe, NB. (for more details, please Google, CMA 2019). Many Acadian Family Reunions will be held throughout this time period.
AS PART OF THE CMA 2019 our Association has planned a GIROUARD, GIROIR, GERRIOR… INTERNATIONAL FAMILY REUNION. The dates and preliminary program are as follows:
Friday Aug 16, 2019- L’Aboiteau Beach (google)1-83 Chemin de l’Aboiteau, Cap-Pelé, NB E4N 1P3

14h00 – 16h00 Family get togethers, time to mingle, enjoy the beach, guided visits to the smokehouses.
16h00 – 17h00 Presentations on local history and genealogy
17h00 – 19h00 Free time for dinner
19 h00- 20h00 Wine and Cheese
20h00 – 23h00 Evening Entertainment
You may if you wish to arrive earlier and enjoy a day at the Beach….parking will be free for those joining the family reunion.
Saturday, Aug 17, 2019 – The 2nd and last day of Girouard, Giroir, Gerrior… Reunion will take place in two areas of the Evangeline region of Prince Edward Island (PEI). Both locations are ten minutes drive from each other in western part of Prince Edward Island on the Northumberland Straight side. (It is about an hour and a half drive from Cap Pelé, NB to these locations in PEI).

The registration fee will be 40 $ per person for the 2 days ( it will be free for children under 17 ).
They will include all activities on Friday and Saturday except for the Friday dinner and one meal on Saturday. Busing costs will be extra.
For those wishing only to attend the Friday activities the fee will be 25 $ per person ( free for children under 17).
Girouard descendants attending the CMA 2019 and wishing to attend the Girouard ,Giroir, Gerrior,,, Family Reunion could also attend the Aug 15 , congrès’ major activity, celebrating Acadian Day, in Dieppe, since it is so close to our planned reunion dates.
We are exploring busing arrangements for same-day transportation from NB to PEI. If interested please contact me so we can evaluate the feasibility and logistics. There is no absolutely no commitment at this time, but your response would help us to determine if there is sufficient interest in this service in order to proceed with further planning.
